Title: World Environment Day – “Beat Plastic Pollution”

Brief description/ Remarks: 

World Environment Day, held annually on 5th June, brings together millions of people from across the globe, engaging them in the effort to protect and restore the Earth. With the same objectives the Social Awareness & Environment Sustenance Club (NSS Unit) of Mandsaur University in association with Faculty of Agriculture Science has organized an activity entitled “Beat Plastic Pollution” on 05.06.2023. The awareness program was coordinated by Mr. Dayashankar Singh (NSS Coordinator Campus 1) Assistant Professor, Faculty of Agriculture Science, Mandsaur University.

The program started with the briefing about the aims, objectives and theme-2023 of World Environment Day by Mr. Dayashankar Singh. During his talk, he enlightened the faculties and students about saving the environment and resolved their queries through active discussion. He emphasized on the need to educate ourselves and people about the environment, through the environment and for the environment to make responsible citizens. He also talked about the consequences of plastic pollution as well as science and solutions to tackle the plastic pollution problem. After completion of awareness session, the faculty members and students have collected single use plastics from the University premises and nearby area.

For the successful completion of awareness program, Dr. Dinesh Baboo Tyagi, Professor & Head Faculty of Agriculture Sciences and Dr. Shekhar Jain, Director NSS praised the NSS volunteer’s efforts and encouraged them for keeping such practice in daily life and spread message of saving environment in the society. 

Outcome: Voluntarily participation in such world-wide activity for saving the environment, strengthen the responsibility for the nature among the students. This activity enhances the awareness among the faculty and students about the problems, and dangers the planet Earth is facing due to plastic accumulation and other activities as well as the measures that need to be taken to preserve the ailing planet.
