Brief description/ Remarks:
Outcomes based education (OBE) is a process that involves the restructuring of curriculum, assessment and reporting practices in education to reflect the achievement of high order learning and mastery rather than the accumulation of course credits. With the aim of introducing the new faculty members with the OBE as well as continuous academic development of all faculty members, the Faculty of Life sciences, Mandsaur university has conducted a Faculty Orientation/Development Program (FOP/FDP) on outcome base education (OBE) on 10.11.2022.
In the beginning of program, Prof. (Dr.) Arunava Das, Dean & Head, Faculty of Life sciences shared his views with the faculty members about the importance of such FOP/FDP programs. The session on the OBE was taken by Dr. Shekhar Jain, Associate Professor and OBE Coordinator, Faculty of Life Sciences. During the session he enlighten in detail about the outcome based education and covered following parameters-
- Fundamental concept of Outcome Based Education
- Defining PEOs, POs, PSOs, COs
- Thinking levels as per Revised blooms taxonomy (RBT)
- Applicability of cognitive process domain and action verbs
- Framing of Course outcomes (COs)
- CO-PO-PSO Mapping / Articulation matrix
- Use of Action verbs w.r.t. COs in MST paper settings
During the discussion session, the different aspects of OBE and its implementation status in the department were discussed and the queries of the faculty members were resolved.
The program ended with the faculty assignment for updation of respective courses COs as well as its mapping with the Program outcomes.
Outcome: This FOP/FDP enlightened the new faculty members about role of OBE in the development of students/institutions, its framework and status of its implementation in the department as well as ensured the assessment and continuous development of all faculty members on the OBE for the betterment of students.
