Brief description / remarks:IIIM-Technology Business Incubator & Skill Development Initiative of CSIR-IIIM, Jammu in association with Mandsaur University, Madhya Pradesh had organized workshop entitled “Basic Techniques in Industrial Microbiology & Biotechnology” for the 1st year students of B.Sc. (Hons) Biotechnology and B.Sc. (Hons) Microbiology from 19th January, 2022 – 22th January, 2022. The aim of the seminar was to provide awareness among student about basic techniques in industrial microbiology & biotechnology, fermentation, microbial biofilms for potential biotechnical applications, production of industrial enzymes and how to start biotech based entrepreneurship. A total 30 students were participated in the workshop. The event successfully coordinated by the Er. Ankush Varma, Coordinator, IIIM-Technology Business Incubator (IIIM-TBI), CSIR- IIIM, Jammu. Prof. (Dr.) Arunava Das, Dean & Head, Faculty of Life Sciences, Mandsaur University conveyed thanks to the coordinators of IIIM-TBI, Jammu for organizing this program for our Life Science students.

Outcome: This workshop provided a detailed knowledge about the basic techniques in industrial microbiology & biotechnology. Students had learnt the basics of fermentation technology, microbial biofilms for potential biotechnical applications, production of industrial enzymes and how to start biotech-based entrepreneurship. This workshop enriched and motivated the students and provided opportunities to interact with the scientist and researchers, exchanged ideas and new strategies to approach, established collaborations, and got inspired. At the end, the speakers answered all the questions raised by the participants. The students had given very positive feedback about the workshop.
