Brief description:

Faculty of Life Sciences had organized Expert Lecture on the topic “Application of Computational Biology and Bioinformatics in Biofuel Production Technology”.  The lecture was delivered by Mr. Karan Kumar, Prime Minister’s Research Fellow and Ph. D scholar at School of Energy Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati, Assam. The program started with the welcome and introduction of the guest by Dr. Aashish Warghane, Associate Professor, Faculty of Life Sciences, Mandsaur University.

The objective of this program was to guide students about the vast career opportunities in the field of biotechnology. In the session, Mr. Kumar discussed the challenges and opportunities faced by a student during their academic life and guided the students how to deal with them. He also motivated the students to stay positive in every situation and said that if one believes in himself/herself and is ready to take risks, then he/she can achieve any position in the career. He also discussed about the role of computational Biology in the current era of research and gave a brief idea about the biofuel production technology later on he explained the applications of bioinformatics and its tools in the Biofuel Production Technology. The program was organized and coordinated by Ms. Heena Shah Assistant Professor, Faculty of Life Science, Mandsaur University and hosted by Ms. Khushi Bhattad and Ms. Ruchika Makwana, students of B. Sc Biotechnology, 1st Sem. All the faculty members were actively participated in the event.

Outcome:

The students attended the lecture enthusiastically and enjoyed Mr. Kumar’s words. His journey inspired the students and encouraged them to work even harder. The event was a great learning experience for the students as they learned about the biofuel production technology and the use of computational biology and bioinformatics in the scientific world.
