Title: “”Voter awareness program”

Brief description/ Remarks:

Voting is an integral part of democracy, and it is necessary for people to have a voice. By voting, we can create change and make a difference in our community. In view of upcoming elections, the Social Awareness & Environment Sustenance Club (NSS Unit) of Mandsaur University organized “Voter awareness program (मतदाता जागरूकता कार्यक्रम)” at the adopted village Guradiya Deda on 07.11.2023 under SVEEP activity.  The main objective of this program is to enlighten, enable and empower every citizen to register as a voter and cast his/her vote at upcoming election in an informed and ethical manner. In the beginning, Dr. Shekhar Jain, Director NSS motivated the NSS volunteers and discussed about the importance of voting. He inspired the volunteers for making human chain. It is a form of demonstration in which people link arms or hands to show political solidarity and makes other people aware about voting. Eventually the volunteers were administered with voter’s oath. Afterwards, the volunteers created awareness about voting by holding banners and raising different slogans such as सारे काम छोड़ दो सबसे पहले वोट दो, वोट डालने जाना है अपना फर्ज निभाना है, जन जन की यही पुकार वोट डालो अबकी बार in the adopted village. All the students called upon the public to vote with full enthusiasm on 17.11.2023 and the public showed a positive attitude towards it. At last the volunteers were instructed to download the application known as cVIGIL stands for Vigilant Citizen. cVIGIL is an innovative mobile application for citizens to report Model Code of Conduct and Expenditure violations during the elections and emphasizes the proactive and responsible role citizens can play in conduct of free and fair elections. Towards the end of the program, Dr. Shekhar Jain appraised the NSS volunteer’s efforts and encouraged them for casting the vote and spread the message of importance of voting in the society.  The program was successfully coordinated by the faculty coordinator Ms. Teena Yadav (Secretary NSS), Dayashankar Singh (Faculty Coordinator Campus I) and Mr. Hariom Patidar (Faculty Coordinator Campus II) along with student coordinator Mr. Umesh Dangi & Mr. Paras Adaniya (B. Sc. Agriculture III year).

Outcome:

The voting awareness program provides information about voting and how to be a responsible voter. A lot of people want to vote, but many are not aware of its need and how to cast it. This is where voting awareness comes into play. The idea of voting awareness is to help people understand the importance of voting. Voting is an important way for voters to control their government. It is a method for citizens to express what they want from their leaders by raising awareness about voting. This will lead to better governance and what everyone wants – a democracy that is free, fair and representative.
