Title:  FDP to Train the Trainers on “Curriculum, Pedagogy and Assessment: An Integrated Design Approach for OBE as a TOTAL Teacher”

Brief description / remarks:Mandsaur University had organized the Faculty Development Program entitled “Curriculum, Pedagogy and Assessment: An Integrated Design Approach for OBE as a TOTAL Teacher during 4th– 6th August 2022 in the Conference Hall. The program was inaugurated by Dr. Shailendra Sharma, DOAA, Mandsaur University, Mandsaur.  Prof.  (Dr.) Arunava Das, Dean and Head of Faculty of Life Sciences and coordinator for IPR cell formally welcomed and introduced the guest to the participants. The main objective of the program was to enhance the knowledge of outcome-based education framework in one’s own curricular setting.  On day-1, Prof. Urmila S. Soni, thoroughly discussed various aspects of OBE including  need and importance for OBE and Taxonomy based education,   Formulation of outcomes in the higher order levels in the Cognitive, Affective, and Psychomotor domains of learning,  OBE Curriculum design and converting the competency-based curriculum into OBE using Revised Bloom’s Taxonomy and  Formulation of course outcomes in the Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) aligned with Program Outcomes for sample courses. On day-2, Prof. Urmila S. Soni, delivered talk on  Teaching-learning strategies and Instructional design in OBE and preparation of Lesson plan Based on TOTAL (Transforming Outcomes Through Active Learning),  CO Target fixation and attainment along with Course Articulation Matrix (CAM) with Gap Analysis,  Direct and Indirect attainment of Program Outcomes and Program Specific Outcomes with Gap Analysis and  Preparation of Lesson plan Based on TOTAL for a sample course with CO Target and submit the same in GCR. On day-3, Case study presentation on the entire framework of OBE (Outcome Based Curriculum, Teaching Plan, CO Target & Attainment and PO Target & Attainment with Gap Analysis) by the participants.  Prof. (Dr.) Amit Jain, IQAC Director and Dr. Manish Verma, Controller of Examination had participated in the formal meeting. Brig. (Dr.) Bharat Singh Rawat, the honourable Vice Chancellor of Mandsaur University had interacted with Prof. Urmila S. Soni and the participants and motivated all towards the implementation of OBE through RBT in our academic process. A total of 25 faculty members (trainers) nominated by their respective Deans, Directors and Principals had attended the three days FDP and got benefited. These trainers will now train the other faculty members in their respective departments and faculties for the successful implementation of OBE in the University. The faculty development program was successfully organized and coordinated by Prof.  (Dr.) Arunava Das, Dean & Head of Faculty of Life Sciences. 

Outcome: 

A total of 25 faculty members (trainers) nominated by their respective Deans, Directors and Principals had attended the three days FDP and got benefited. They were trained in the following aspects –

1.  To implement the  outcome-based education framework in one’s own curricular setting  

2. To apply the nature and development of higher order thinking skills and their vital role in promoting transformative learning
