Expert Talk on Switchgear & Protection
The Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering organized an ‘Expert Talk’ on “Switchgear and Protection” from 31 March 2017 to 02 April. The expert talk was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) S. C. Gupta, Electrical department, MANIT. Dr. S. C. Gupta is an established academician and well-known researcher in the field of Electrical Power System: Generation, Transmission and Distribution Systems as well as SCADA Systems. He is also having a vast teaching experience of around thirty years.
The students of pre-final year attended the talk along with the faculties of the department.
The important points regarding the talk delivered are as follows:
- Fault Analysis per unit, representation and its advantages, faults in power systems.
- Proactive Relays Requirement of relays, Primary & backup protection.
- Circuit Breakers Elementary principle of arc quenching, recovery & restriking voltage.
- System Protection, Protection of Generators.
