Title: ” मेरी माटी-मेरा देश (Meri Mati Mera Desh)” Celebration

Brief description/ Remarks:

The “MeriMaatiMeraDesh” campaign is the government program launched by the Hon’ble Prime minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi in the run up to Independence Day celebration to honor the martyred soldiers of the country. This campaign is envisaged from 9th August 2023 as a culminating event of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’. It is a tribute to the Veers and Veeranganas who have made the supreme sacrifice for the country. “Meri Maati Mera Desh” envisions a unified celebration of India’s soil and valour, commemorating the nation’s journey of freedom and progress. With the same aim, the Social Awareness & Environment Sustenance Club (NSS Unit) of Mandsaur University organized different activities like वसुधा वंदन (Tree plantation), वीरो का वंदन (Indian soldiers felicitation) and पंच प्रण की प्रतिज्ञा under the “Meri Mati Mera Desh” initiative of Indian Government on 12th  August 2023.

The program started with “वीरो का वंदन (Indian soldiers felicitation)”, a felicitation ceremony held for honoring Mr. Komal Singh Chauhan, Warrant Officer (Retd.), Indian Army. During the event, Dr. Shekhar Jain, Director NSS, faculty coordinators and NSS volunteers have felicitated Mr. Chouhan for his contribution for the India. Followed by felicitation, Mr. Chauhan shared his life journey and inspired the volunteers by his motivational words.  Afterwards, volunteers took a solemn pledge covering “पंच प्रण की प्रतिज्ञा” of the Hon’ble Prime Minister, affirming their commitment to the country. Towards the end of the program, in order to increase the green area, to keep the environment clean and to keep nature enriched with vital air, the volunteers planted saplings of indigenous species to replenish the Mother Earth under the initiative “वसुधा वंदन (Tree plantation)”.

During the ceremony, volunteers were encouraged to either individually or collectively take a selfie while planting the saplings and upload it to the dedicated website provided by Government of India. At the end of the program, Dr. Shekhar Jain praised the NSS volunteer’s efforts and encouraged them for keeping such practice in daily life and spread message of saving trees in the society. The program was successfully coordinated by the faculty coordinator Ms. Teena Yadav (Secretary NSS) and Mr. Dayashankar Singh (Coordinator Campus 1) along with student coordinator Mr. Umesh DangiB. Sc. Agriculture III year.

Outcome:
By connecting with the land and honoring our heroes, this program will instill a sense of national pride and inspire future generations to protect India’s cherished heritage.Voluntarily participation in this program strengthened NSS volunteer’s responsibility towards country and environment sustenance. Such little steps taken together by students surely help in fostering strong mental and social health amongst today’s youths so that they connect with their peers, their elders, their community and the environment.
