Brief description / remarks:The Faculty of Life Sciences, Mandsaur University had organized an industrial visit of “Sanchi Sahakari Dugdh Sangh Maryadit, Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh” for the students of B.Sc. (Hons.) and M.Sc. Biotechnology/Microbiology II Sem on 13th May, 2022. The main objective of this visit was to enlighten students about the industry- academia correlation as well as career opportunities in the dairy industry. The industrial visit tour started at sharp 7.30 am from Mandsaur University by bus and reached to the Sanchi industry, Ujjain on 11.30 am. Before proceeding for the dairy plant visit, Dr. Shekhar Jain, Associate Professor and visit coordinator, felicitated Mr. D.P. Singh, C.E.O., Ujjain Sahkari Dugdha Sangh Maryadit by presenting a memento of Lord Pashupatinath. He along with the faculty members of FLS; Mr. Yogendra Kumar Verma, Ms. Teena Yadav and Mrs. Sunita Baishya interacted with Mr. D.P. Singh, C.E.O. and Mr. C. P. Dahiya, Manager (Admin), and discussed about the future opportunities for FLS students like visit, internship and placements. The production plant visit started with the overview briefing given by Mr. S. C. Tiwari, In-charge production plant. Later on, Mr. Mandloi and Mr. Bhupesh Purohit, Assistant Manager, Production plant, have given an elaborative overview in step-by step manner about the Sanchi products production as well as Quality Control and microbiological analysis. Students have visited Pasteurization zone, Sterilization zone, Butter, Paneer and Cheez parlor, Milk refrigeration zone, Milk product packaging zone, Boiler zone for steam sterilization, QC lab and Microbiology lab. Students have enjoyed the visit and raised various queries which have been resolved by industry experts. During the visit, Dr. Shekhar Jain thoroughly motivates students and given various aspects of industries, important for future prospective and different career point of view. Mr. Yogendra Kumar Verma, Ms. Teena Yadav and Mrs. Sunita Baishya, Assistant Professor also talked about the role of microbiology in the industries and day to day daily life. The industrial visit tour completed successfully upon arrival at Mandsaur University at 10.30 pm. Prof. (Dr.) Arunava Das, Dean and Head of Faculty of Life Sciences, congratulated students and coordinators for successful completion of industrial visit and encouraged students to participate in such types of activities in future.
Outcome: This industrial visit provided the students with an opportunity to learn practically through interaction, working methods and employment practices. It gives the students an exposure to current work practices as opposed to theoretical knowledge being taught at classrooms. In this industry visit, students understood about the application prospects of their subjects like General microbiology, Dairy microbiology, Industrial microbiology, Biochemistry and Fermentation technology as well as huge job opportunities in dairy industries.
