Brief description / remarks:The Faculty of Life Sciences, Mandsaur University had organized an adjunct lecture on IPR and IPP Plant Breeders Rights; Bio-safety guidelines; Patenting of biological product-turmeric, Basmati rice, Neem; Bioethics for the students on 11 December, 2021. The main objective of the adjunct lecture was to enlighten the attendee about intellectual property rights and intellectual property protection including Plant Breeders Rights; Bio-safety guidelines; Patenting of biological product. Prof.  (Dr.) Arunava Das, Dean and Head of Faculty of Life Sciences formally welcomed and introduced the guest to the participants. During the lecture, Dr. Jayant Kumar Patra thoroughly discussed various aspects of the origin and protection of individual IPR, in detail. Dr. Jayant Kumar Patra also talked about difference between intellectual property protection (IPP) and intellectual property rights (IPR). The event concluded successfully with a vote of thanks by Dr. Shekhar Jain, Associate Professor, Faculty of Life Sciences.  

Outcome: The adjunct lecture provided a detail information about various IPR and IPP including Patent v/s Trade secret protection.  At the end the speaker resolved all the queries asked by the participants in very elaborative manner. The students found the lecture very interested and informative.
